Can we throw prasadam in dustbin or garbage ?

how to discard leftover prasadam or what is the correct way to dispose it? this was the question came to my mind recently, last week we went to tirupathi and we bought almost 16 laddus few vaddas and after distributing most of them we kept 3-4 laddus and vadda for family consumption but for some reason we could not fully eat prasadam one laddu and vada remained but vadda got fungus layer on it because both vada and laddu was kept in same container it was time to dispose both of them and it was not edible any more.

Now can we throw the unedible prasadam in garbage or dustbin? since the prasadam is sacred something made me not to throw it in dustbin instead thought to bury it in deep mud in one of the pot on my terrace though i burried it in mud, one question started to annoy me did i do right? this made me search on the internet on proper way of disposing unconsumed prasadam.

after googling for a while i found information on how to discard prasdam in only one website, it says "if for some reason prasdam has to be discarded we can feed it to animals, bury it or put it in body of water" what ever it is i did right thing without knowing and btw try not to waste prasdam else do as said above, if you have more knowledge on this subject share with us.

The best would be to feed it to animals. Why waste food? Another thing that can be done is to distribute the prasadam to everyone around and not have any left over.

hai manjunath,

To me, it is all in ones mind. I do have a question why did it catch the fungus. That tells me it is not beyond any climatic conditions. Normaly, I am very skeptical about the hygiene of these prasadams. So I do not like to eat them. No offense. But that is me.

Many times it was reported in news papers that the aravanapayasam the prasadam from sabarimala, the biggest money churning temple in Kerala was littered with insects, cockroaches, rat tail etc.

But you take offense in discarding it unceremoniously. So you should do it like that.

My point is, it is in ones' mind. I see God in my action. That is all.

@prasanna

Yes... not all temples are unhygienic, and yes i was more skeptical than you in "GOD" like things at one time i was More "Atheist", but as cycle of time changes our believe system also toggle btw Theist and Atheist but now i have become "Neutral" the post is the result of my Neutrality but still my 51% of stake in belief is towards "Atheism" :)
