how did i waterlogged my cell phone / mobile phone ?

Its better to call it a solvent log... I was so dumb today i screwed up my good old working mobile phone (j210i) for no reason, this was a reserve phone used by my family when our present phones get repaired... it was almost nine months i used it as the charger was broken to this old phone i bought a new charger charged it to the fullest and thought of playing my favorite game "Casino Wheels" but unfortunately the button number "5" which is used to spin the wheel was not working properly it took 1 -3 clicks to activate, i thought of repairing it myself by pouring a few drop of "Liquid Video Head Cleaner" of my Old VCR, that's where i made a mistake...

Think! i really had a very hard corner to this very old mobile phone i just poured 2 -3 drops of solvent on the button it started working almost fine very rarely taking a double click to my jealous i started pouring few extra drops which really screwed up the whole phone the power/end button circuit got damaged in the process phone never started next time, becoming a piece of junk. turning working mobile into a dead phone within a few seconds :(

A lesson learnt hardway not to ignore old things so easily and repent later sometimes i feel if i had done the same procedure removing the battery my old mobile phone would have been survived never less damage has been done learnt a lesson on not taking things easy even if it is old useless gadjet....

So guys here are few things i learnt after this incident on how to take care the mobile phone.

1. Never let any liquid in your cell phone, if you accidentally pour water, coffee or any other liquid remove battery as soon as possible because its not the liquid that does damage its the batter which causes a shortcircuit blowing the PCB circuit and important components to utter useless.

2. Second put your phone, battery and sim and a silica gel pack inside the plastic box and allow it for minimum 3 days to dry, if you don't have access to silica gel packs, put your mobile phone in a raw uncooked rice for two days, Rice being a natural desiccant will absorb excess moisture.

3. Now before putting your battery back into mobile check the mobile screen for any vapors, once battery is placed switch on the mobile... if it for some reason does not power-up remove battery and connect power supply without battery.

4. If your phone does not power-up for whatever reason either your phone is dead or require a major servicing from the authorized service center and pray, the PCB board to be intact.

having said that, i still don't understand why my phone circuit got damaged in spite of using solvent, as video head cleaner solvents are non conductive that is they are safe to use with mobiles any gyaan on this will be really helpful.
