There was a time Television (TV) was once called Idiot box or dumb machine i don't know whats the real reason behind it though but now things are going to change yes google is teaming up with big TV manufacturers to make televisions smarter really smarter and if your television doesn't support don't worry Google is bringing a set top box which is as good as inbuilt one....
so why television because there are three times more television users than computer its the google strategy to reach the people more closer(so that they can sell more ads ;)) what ever it is it will benefit both google and the viewers by streaming high quality entertainment what the web lacks and benefiting by all the goodies that tv has to offer such as large screen, big sound etc because Monitor and web-browser ain't enough for good cinematic experience....

is google tv is just way to organize, search and view the tv programs? if you think so than you are wrong its scalability is infinite as google has made most of its products open source and making sdk available for free and there are many developers out there who are willing to write awesome apps and we can expect google TV to be much smarter than we expected any way i am waiting for Googs tv sdk's what ever it is google is making its foot print in almost every part of our life whether its good or bad i think its surely beneficial.
