how to blur pictures and cartoon yourself without photoshop ?

recently i wanted a snapshot / image of my website mail inbox for some post on themes but i did not want my email senders name or subject headers to visible to my readers then after a searching for while i did not find any tools to do the blurring job all i got was tutorials on how to blur the image or picture using photo shop and some other online free web tools, after a quick look at my software archives one "exe" caught my attention that is free open source alternative to photo-shop "GIMP" software which i long downloaded but never had a time to install and give it a shot and after playing with it for a while i was amazed to see that it had all the necessary tools for my blogging photo editing needs all in 30megs software compared to 2gigs photo shop below is the picture of my inbox mail headers blurred using the "GIMP" software.

before using GIMP i was using Microsoft photo editor to blur the images but MSphoto editor was obsolete, time confusing and end output looks very much shabby for the job so now my new alternative is GIMP Click on below picture to enlarge

so whats more you can do with gimp? you can do hell loads of thing using gimp by applying gradients designing your own custom themes and even creating you own avatar? below is the picture of George w Bush pope style though ;) which i cartoonized with one step using GIMP you can create awesome avatars using GIMP by applying various filters available in the application.

though GIMP serves most of the image editing needs but i definitely say it cannot replace photoshop if you are very much professional but if your needs are less just for blogging and simple photo editing "GIMP" is more than enough just Google for "GIMP" if you want to download the software it is less than 30megs, if you guys know any cool free photo editing softwares do mention it here.
