money cant buy happiness: is it wrong quote ?

money = happiness: equation questioned ? I always believe in the equation Money = happiness but most of my friends and people around me are always critic and believe upon the old saying "Money can't buy happiness" there are lots of research done by many renowned psychologist and economists on this subject and the results were mixed but the overall report showed there is a overwhelming evidence that "money buys happiness"

a social psychologist and assistant professor Elizabeth dunn at university of British Columbia quotes like this "Just because money doesn't buy happiness doesn't mean money cannot buy happiness", when every people says "Money cant buy happiness and we should be happy with what we have" one thing comes to my mind is "the fox and grape story" and their inability to earn enough to be happy.

Though i dont agree having only money can bring happiness there should be a right blend of Money, wife, kids and good family environment, and stress free job with enough bank balance so that he feels secure for basic emergency needs, but one thing happiness and money is very much interelated with once perception towards life style, a man with materilaisitc life needs more money to buy the things without it he is very unhappy, but where as a person whose materialistic needs are very much limited he needs less money and he is very happy even without much money so the over all scenario of what makes man happy depends on many factors such as his character, family and friends circle and much more so it is very much bleak to agree with the quote many people use "Money can't buy happiness".

there is a long tendency of love on jewellery in indian womens it is said that there is more gold in india than in the form of jewelery and gold biscuits than any where in the world at any given point of time, ask any indian women what makes you more happy most of the times the answer would be a diamond necklace or gold bangles, the pleasure neurons in women will always make women feel better and more happy when they wear these shiny metals even knowing that its a shiny metal and not useful for anything more than showoff.

and also research shows that there is a difference in levels of happiness on what money spent according to Thomas Gilovich, chair of the psychology department at Cornell University money spent on movie tickets, a nice steak dinner and vacations will bring you more happiness than money spent on other material goods

and in another research done by professor Mariano Rojas from mexico the satisfactory of the people who are considered as poor and not poor are almost similar in as study conducted from 2004 to 2006 it is said that not all the people who are considered 'Poor' experinced low life satisfaction and not all people who are not considered 'not poor' was every one happy and this clearly shows poverty alone does not makes person unhappy.

recently a man named Karl Rabeder who grew up poor and earned enough fortune so that he could be happy discovered wrong coming to the conclusion that Money cant buy happiness and gave away every penny of His £3 Million Fortune to the charities and moving to small wooden hut in the mountains or simple bedsit in innsbruck instead.

what ever it is i truly do not agree with and i am the critic of the quote "Money can't buy happiness" again it depends on people around and with him, his life style, the scenario he is in and many factors so what do you guys say do you agree with the statement?

money and happiness are two different world but people often relate it incorrectly! and as you said money can buy happiness and also cannot buy happiness it depends on what kind of happiness he is seeking for.

Money cant buy happiness but things and if some person gets happiness with thingss then may be its true for him.

To a certain extent money is a necessity and necessary to be happy, above that it is not..its your values in life which bring you satisfaction and happiness.

Hi, Interesting thoughts! I personally believe that it’s not possible to make a general statement on whether money makes people more or less happy. Money comes with a whole set of new elements that may have good or bad impact on our happiness, and depending on how susceptible we are to every one of them, the conclusion will go one way or the other (i.e. different from person to person). I recently made an effort to provide a more comprehensive picture of what these ad- and disadvantages are. I invite you to have a look at

and tell me what you think!

Well.. money can't buy a lot of stuff...

Even if you have millions of dollars, there are some things that you’ll never have with money alone. So what can’t money buy? Read on...

Well, happiness is a feeling. And feelings obviously cannot be bought. Neither can money buy happiness nor can it bring sorrow. What money brings to a large extent is a security! An indispensable security. It improves the accessibility to things. There are so many things to see and to do on this earth, then why be happy with what we have, why not endeavour more. So I perfectly agree with you!
