ever waterlogged your thumb drive? i recently left my flash drive in the back pocket and forgot, my mother unknowingly without checking the pocket dropped it in the washing machine and and we came to know that the pen drive was in the pant after 4 hrs of soaking , 30 minutes of machine whipping and 10 minutes of high speed spinning in the dryer.
well you might ask was my pendrive still alive after all the assault? the answer is yes it was alive :) so what i did to save my pen drive ? below are some of the tips i came to know after doing some R&D on web that can save the pendrive circuit from getting damaged if your pen drive is not water resistant
1. Do not plug it directly Just leave it for two days and let the water get dry naturally and then plug the USB drive after a short prayer ;)
2. Take petrol from your bike or car soak your pen drive and dry it for few hours (not Recommended)
3. if you have rice in home put it in a bowl of rice because rice absorbs the moisture leave it for 24 hours and plugin(recommended)
Some of the things not to do:
1. Never directly plug the device shortly after getting water logged.
2. Never place it in the direct sun or near the heat source, or hair dryers as it may damage the flash drive and circuits.
if you guys have any other tips or thinks above tips might damage the pen drive further do share some of your tips to recover waterlogged usb pen drives

i had the water bottle leak my bad and got my usb device wet... im dreading as i have no backup of any of my work... i dnt know what to do...

Washed my laptop case and pendrive was in it ! :( However I let it dry overnight and used it as if nothing had happened to it the following morning! Works perfectly with the added bonus of smelling fresh due to the fabric conditioner ! :D

well i remember, i washed my 8GB flash drive along with my jeans.. well i plugged my flash drive to the Pc, it did not recognize it, well however i was able to see some water condensed in the inside top of the flash drive(blurred spots of light).... I let it dry over-night, Wen tried in the morning, still useless...later, i put it inside my laptop bag(for months)... One day, when i was in a desperate need of it, tried once again, it worked... And i use that drive even now, i think now it is almost 5-6yrs old!!
S this morning my mom wet my pendrive,I'm gonna dry my pen drive for a couple of days after gone through this site,let me say or come again to this site and i will say wat happened to my pendrive
Accidentally my 16gb pendrive dropped into water.
Then i wiped it and kept in sun light for 1 hour.
And did not used for 3 days.
After 3 days connected to computer and it worked.
But speed is very low.
I backed up data
and done(copy, delete, format) for 5 times
Now it's working perfectly. :)
