sparrows in india where have they gone?

Sparrows the lost bird of garden city (bengaluru) ask anyone in Bangalore or major cities in India which is the bird missing from the past last decade i bet answer would definitely be "Sparrow".

It was time when we could see sparrows nesting all over Bangalore from houses, trees, shopping complex, markets, government buildings etc etc now we can't see it anywhere even on trees :(

as a child i grew up along with these beautiful little birds always chirping outside the house and near windows and occasionally inside the house.... i still remember when many times these poor birds fell inside our well in our home and my granny and mother rescued them using (bindige) water container and pulling and leaving it alone so that once feathers are dried they could fly again and telling us not to touch it :) because there was a myth in our houses where our elders use to say touching these birds other birds will not allow it again in there community :) i think these myths were created by our wise elders to protect them.

I still remember there was a small nest of this bird near the window of our home and my parents used to show me the small eggs in the nest during its breeding season we also used to feed these birds everyday by throwing grains at them and enjoy seeing it feed and chirping in morning and evenings.

Now i feel sad that there are no more sparrows in the cities and lost in the midst of urbanization though there are many reasons for these birds to migrate out of the city:

1. sparrows are very sensitive and allergic to environmental factors such as pollution and sounds.
2. there are no more old buildings for nesting... most modern architecture doesn't allow any birds to build nests thanks for our intelligent civil engineers :)
3. People are very much kind enough not feed these poor birds anymore
4. Research shows that unleaded petrol uses Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether as an anti knocking agent along with some other additives in petrol makes the combustion to kill small insects in the air this insects being the natural food source of these birds without it there is no way these birds can survive contributing to their mass migration and decline.
5.High number of Cell Phone towers and mobile phones contributed to high radiations and resulted in decline of the sparrow population.

what ever it is till now there is no clear reason why these little social birds are vanishing from our city Eco system and i feel sad that our younger generation kids don't have a chance to enjoy the chirping of these birds anymore...

if by any chance there are still few sparrows left out in your neighborhood please try to feed them improve their population do let us know if your are that lucky enough to have them in your neighborhood.

Humans are killing humans by killing mother nature. The green in this earth is reducing at a very faster rate. No wonder, we r responsible for this. I feel very bad for this situation;-(

It is a sad story, once upon a time these little sparrows used to visit all house tops, make noise, jump from here to there but alas, no more. The main culprits probably is radiation through Mobile network.
