realtek audio HD problem microphone headset not working

recently my friend was not able to voice chat(sound) with his headphone though his head phone mic was working in other computers without any problem he was not able to voice chat on his new system we also tried connected with rear panel still mic was not working with both sides then after few trials we figured it out whats the problem below are few things you have to check when your mic does not works...

--> first of all go to control panel-->"sound and audio devices"-->click on "voice" tab make sure that voice playback and voice recording are pointing to your audio driver.

--> Now click on volume and see whether recoding and mic volume is not muted if it is checked make sure to uncheck it as shown in below pic

--> Now click on test hardware and follow the step by step procedure to test whether your voice is being detected by OS if it is successful then problem may be your gtalk or skype messenger if it fails as shown in below pic then check out the configuration in your audio driver.

--> now open your audio driver control panel which will normally be located at the system tray click on it and click on audio mixer tab as shown in below pic.

Most of the time the front mic and mic volume by default muted by your driver software if it so unmute it by unchecking it as shown in below pic and press ok now your mic should work as usual at least most of the time this is the problem with most users if this does not solve your problem better consult computer technician or your computer vendor if this solved your problem feel free to drop a line of comment.
