Are you using nero7 to write dvd and writing fails at last step when finalize the cd or dvd? recently i split streamed the xp cd with service pack 3 and created a bootable image and when i tried to burn the same on cd i was getting the error could not perform end disc at once, invalid write state, burn process failed though i uninstalled nero 7 and reinstalled restarted the system and used different media to burn samsung, TDK and sony dvd but still i was getting error at final step see below pic.
now i started to search for the possible solution and below are the few possible reason why it could happen1. May be your cd drive frimware is old or your nero is the problem try to update both
2. it could happen if the data is a bit higher than the disc capacity.
3. It also happens if the cd image(iso) is being created by different program say Ultra ISO, nlite etc.
4. or this problem might be the result of installing other burning software such as roxio etc side by side which might clash with nero.
5. if the image or files to burn is corrupted.
though my problem was nero was having trouble to cope with the bootable iso image created by nlite so i downloaded a free tool called burnaware when i tried to burn same file with this tool it worked like a charm so in most cases your nero burning software might be the culprit
