Does your mouse double clicks automatically even though you click button once? recently one of my colleague faced the same problem, his single click on any item would result into double click even after restarting the system removing and reconnecting the Mouse cable.
after a brief R&D we came to know that this happens due to following reasons:
- Latest patches or updates to your computer might changed the behavior
- The mouse settings have been modified, either manually or by another program, to send a multiple-click command when you perform a single physical click.
- The mouse drivers are corrupted.
- The mouse hardware is defective.
Some of the few things you can do to fix the issue:
- Switch off your system disconnect the mouse cable reconnect it and open the control panel and restore everything to default settings
- If above step doesn't work try another mouse if you have spare or borrow from your friend or neighbor because some times the problem may be with the hardware
- If you recently installed any new software try to uninstall them restart the PC and check again
- if nothing else works try to uninstall the mouse driver by going to control panel-->Settings-->mouse right click on mouse icon open-->hardware-->uninstall driver as shown in below pic and restart the system now your computer should automatically detect the mouse hardware and automatically installs the required drivers as a factor of safety make sure that you have the mouse driver cd with you in case your system does not install drivers automatically(This stepped worked for us in solving the problem)
if your are new or don't know much about computer then it is better to seek assistance of person who knows better about computers else you might harm your computer in the process
