Are you feeling that you computer is connecting to some server and sending confidential data or downloading some malware? do you feel that your system is infected with spy ware, virus and some kind of key logger etc? recently i also felt same when i read a review about fox mail email client which is my favorite and default mail client that it sends some information to unknown server..
but no one specified what information it is sending and to which server and how it is used then i stopped using the mail client and downloaded a http sniffer called HTTPANALYZER installed it restarted the computer and started the analyzer to monitor the network then started the fox mail email client below is the screen shot
So first thing i noticed is that the it pinged www.qq.com and sent some data to www.datacollect.foxmail.cn and when i analyzed the complete data request and response i did not find any threat in it, i guess the information was just to collect statistics about the foxmail users around the world... though i guess the information is nothing more than general statistics that if anybody know anything more about it do share your review here with us...
and between the foxmail is one of the best email client i ever used because its Light, weight, portable, does not hog system memory and has good features i have used Outlook, outlook express, thunderbird, eudora, zimbra, palm versamail and few others but this is best and easy to use though older version was developed by independent developer Zhang Xiaolong and does not support imap it was recently purchased by tencent a major chinese web company now it has retouched with nice UI and IMAP support more over it is still free and used by more than 5 million people around the world.
Similarly you can analyze the traffic in your system and find out which program is connecting what servers and sending what kind of information though httpanalyzer is shareware you can find tons of similar tools which are free by googling.
