how to change created date of a file and folder in mac and windows?

Many times you would have come across a situation where you need to change the Creation date, Last Modified date , last accessed date and time of a file there may be several reasons :) but in windows or mac you cannot find any such feature to change and it is a complicated task to try our self manually if you are not a computer specialist but luckily i came cross a few free ware that can do the job easily without any hassle

below is simple step by step guide

1. First of download the software SKT TIMESTAMP and install it

2. Now right click on any file or folder and click on properties in the menu for which you want to change last Modified or created date and time as shown in below pic

3. Now you can see the new Tab called TimeStamps in the property windows of the file click on the timestamp menu see below pic

4. Now in the timestamp tab you can see the options to edit date and time of last modified and created option now click on the date drop down list and you can see the date picker select the appropriate date and time and click on 'apply" after changes are done



Here touch button is used to quickly change the last modified time and date to today

5. Now Click on the General Tab you can see the time stamp of your file has been changed as show in below pic


OTHER ALTERNATIVES

Some of the other Alternative software are FileDate Changer see below pic this tool works on almost all the versions of windows




SetFileDate is yet another tool its interface is pretty good and everything is tightly integrated see below PIC
For MAC Users i found out this shareware called BetterFinder Attributes though it is not free it is priced at €15
though i did not find anything free or opensource free tool similar to it do let us know if any of you know such free tool
